After a week or so at King Ash Bay we decided to try out Karumba which is well known haunt of the Grey Nomad fishing brigade. We had heard many mixed reports so both Fiona and I were somewhat apprehensive. As it turned out they were well founded. We feel quite disorientated and are squeezed in at the park feeling claustrophobic after the space of King Ash Bay and this is the low season. Apparently during the high season there can be upwards of 400 boats in the river and ramp rage is common. Not our sort of place!

We did play tourist once and went to the Barra research station. Quite impressive considering that it was started by a commercial fisherman and is run by volunteers.
